WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED AS A STOP ON THE DARWIN DAY ROADSHOW???  HERE’S SOME ADVICE…

Because we want to get the most bang for our travel buck, multiple applications that are geographically “clustered” within a couple hours of each other receive stronger consideration.  So, if you know a K-12 teacher at a school within a few hours of your own, forward this info to them and encourage them to apply!  Visiting one school in a state is great.  Being able to visit three our four schools that are each a couple/few hours from each other, over the course of several days, is MUCH better!  They don’t even have to be in the same state: one year we visited a couple schools in southern Missouri and a couple more in northern Arkansas over the course of four days, driving an hour or two to the next town after each day’s visit.  So, anything you can do to put together a geographic cluster of applicants will increase the chances that your school will be selected!

Although we wish we could visit every school that applies, we always receive many more applications than we can accommodate.  We encourage everyone to apply, but if you are located in a town or city with a local university or science center that is likely to organize Darwin Day activities, we also encourage you and your students to take advantage of this and attend.  For a list of local Darwin Day activities, please visit www.darwinday.org.
